Denominational Resources

Asbury Theological Seminary is a multidenominational graduate school of theology committed to teaching the unchanging truth of historic Wesleyan Christianity through the most dynamic means available on each campus. Members of eight Protestant denominations currently serve on the faculty.

Asbury Theological Seminary prepares those seeking Ordination within a wide variety of denominations through both MA degrees and the MDiv degree.  It is of paramount importance that students determine what courses will meet their own denomination’s ordination requirements.  Here are a few links to Denominations that are well-represented at Asbury. Additional information can be found in the Academic Catalog.

United Methodist students seeking ordination, as required by the general church, will complete assignments in various courses (Vocation of Ministries, Christian Ethics, United Methodist History & Polity, United Methodist Theology & Polity) covering issues of behavioral boundaries, sexual harassment, and protection of vulnerable persons.  In addition, all UM students seeking ordination are required to attend once every three years an annual conference sponsored ‘Boundaries’ training event (preferably, though not necessarily, in the student’s home annual conference).
