Director of Distributed Learning
R. Dale Hale is the Director of Distributed Learning at Asbury Theological Seminary, a position he has held since 2004. Dale’s career with the Seminary began in 1998, when he was joined campus as the Video Information System Supervisor. As the Director of Distributed Learning, Dale manages the online program and the distance learning classes that link Asbury’s Kentucky campus with their Florida Dunnam campus.
After graduation from college in 1983, Dale served as pastor leading two congregations, one located in Ponca City, OK, and the other in Council Bluffs, IA. Pastoring those two churches created a passion for equipping the church with both well-trained pastors and a laity well versed in understanding of the scriptures. It is this passion for pastor and laity that drives his commitment to a quality online program for Asbury Theological Seminary.
Sensing God’s call on his life for further education, Dale entered seminary in 1993. He graduated with a dual degree, the MDiv from Asbury Theological Seminary and the MSW from the University of Kentucky in 1997. Since then, Dale completed the PhD in higher education administration from the University of Kentucky and was hired into the position he currently holds with Asbury. Dale is also an affiliate faculty for the Seminary, teaching mainly in the Christian Discipleship area. He and his wife live just outside of Wilmore on five acres. They have no children but two of his brothers now live in the area.
