Dr. C. Reginald Johnson is Dean of the School of Theology and Formation. He previously served as Dean of the School of Theology and Formation. He is also the Roy and Weezie Anderson Professor of Prayer and Spiritual Formation.
He received a B.A. from Wake Forest University, 1964; a B.D. from Duke Divinity School, 1967; and a Ph.D. from University of Edinburgh, 1975.
Dr. Johnson has been a member of the Asbury Seminary faculty since 1978. He is the past chair of the area of Preaching and Worship, and has also served as Director of Supervised Ministry, Director of the Doctor of Ministry program and Dean of the Chapel. He is an ordained elder in the North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church, where he served as pastor for several years before coming to Asbury Seminary. He is involved in the ministry of spiritual direction, and is a frequent conference speaker and retreat leader. He has written several books and articles, including Celebrate, My Soul, which was been re-released under the title Your Personality and the Spiritual Life and he co-authored Spiritual Formation For Christian Leaders, with Dr. Donald Demaray.
Dr. Johnson is certified by the Association for the Application of Psychological Type and is an approved evangelist and Bible teacher for the United Christian Ashram Movement. He has served on the Jessamine County School Board and as coach in Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball.
Dr. Johnson and his wife, Diane Jo, have four children.
