Dr. Ken Collins is appointed to the Board of Directors of the Institute on Religion and Democracy
Asbury Theological Seminary faculty member Dr. Ken Collins has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Institute on Religion and Democracy, a Washington think tank that was established in 1981 by the late Richard John Neuhaus.
The IRD has been a voice “for transparency, for renewal, and for Christian orthodoxy.” Professor Tom Oden has referred to the theology that sustains this vital group in the following way: [It] is orthodox, reliable, stable, beautiful, familiar, and glorious. By it the church has been blessed by God for two thousand years.” The mission of the IRD, so valued by those who are fair-minded thinkers and keen cultural observers, is to "reaffirm the church's biblical and historical teachings, strengthen and reform its role in public life, protect religious freedom, and renew democracy at home and abroad."
