Mentored Ministry
Student Feedback
Overview
During a student's two semesters of Mentored Ministry (MMin) they will:
- set personal growth goals,
- connect to a mentor who will hold the student accountable to those goals,
- meet each week with a campus Reflection Group and faculty facilitator,
- and do hands-on work in a ministry setting, integrating studies into ministry and life.
We train Mentors to do more than manage your work and check off forms (like Notary Publics). They are trained to guide and help put the pieces together while reflecting theologically in a ministry setting.
During MM601 the student will:
- work within the walls of a local church,
- be exposed to the many areas of ministry in the church,
- set three or four goals: 1. A personal spiritual area, 2) a family relationship area, 3) and 4) ministry areas.
During MM602 the student will be pushed outside the walls of the local congregation into the parish-world, to extend the local ministry into a cross-cultural setting. The student will stay with the same mentor and meet with a campus Reflection Group, but the real thrill comes while gathering several parishioners and launching into ministry.
This is like no other seminary class. Since this is a hands-on ministry lab students will work well beyond the 2-credit hours you would expect in a normal 2-credit class.
