Re: Summary of first meeting
The Board/Faculty Communication Task Force had its first meeting by conference call on April 9, 2007. The Task Force was set up under the direction of President Ellsworth Kalas and Board Chair James Smith with the charge to improve the communication between the faculty and the Board of Trustee.
The Task Force began with a list of questions provided by our consultant, Dr. Curt Bechler (see attached). The Task Force began by prioritizing these questions for future discussion. The key priorities were set as follows:
- “What specific outcomes are desired from the work of this task force?”
- “How might communication be improved without undermining the work of the president and board chair or PLST and Executive Committee?”
- “What channels of communication might be utilized to enhance current communication?”
The next meeting of the Task Force will be by conference call on April 23. A third meeting has been scheduled following the May Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday evening, May 9. A summary will be provided following these meetings.
