Copyright

- Syllabi, Powerpoint lectures, EXL Media, and and Reserves are reviewed for compliance
Syllabi
- Should not be changed (unless in favor of students) once class has begun
- Should be saved as HTML (Webpage) and uploaded to the AIS system 8 weeks prior to the semester. Please click here for course syllabi uploading instructions
- Should be uploaded to the Virtual Campus before the start of class
- Images should be copyright compliant and be appropriately cited
- Required reading should be listed with clear expectations for course assignments
- Syllabi should have the "Required Syllabi text" pasted in that explains student support and the Virtual Campus terminology. This can be found under "Required Syllabi Info" on the Faculty Info Commons page.

Power Point Lectures
- Consistent Look
- Simplicity
- Copyright minded
- Text quotes need to have reference
- Images need to have reference
- No more than 5 images from 1 source or
- No more than 15 images from collective work
- No limit on images as long as above criteria are met
- URL links are best for EXL
- Alternative text for online lecture (Firstclass Document with no images)
Copyright Rules
For Copyrighted material to be used at ATS it must be.
1) Spontaneous — be submitted within 1 week of intended use
2) Less than 10% — must be 1 chapter or less than 10% of book
3) Cumulative Effect — must be only submitted 1 time. Can not be repeated.
Copyright Interpretation
- Request is submitted by sending completed reserve request form by FacultyFaculty Sec. to Faculty Info Commons
- Request is processed through CMC (copyright management center) which reviews request for copyright compliance
- If approved, request is passed on to fulfillment. If denied, faculty are e-mailed with status and alternative action
EXL Media
- Please turn in the production or media request 3 months prior to the semester of use
- The production request form is found under "Resources" on the OneATS portal
- The Media Request form is found under "Resources" on the OneATS portal
RESERVES
- Only recommended reading in text book form can be placed on reserve in advance before class begins (Cumulative Effect)
- Required reading must be purchased by the student in textbook or course packet form. Course packet requests must be submitted to the Bookstore at least 8 weeks prior to beginning of course

- If professor misses course packet deadline and needs chapter on reserve for semester or continual use in courses then we can seek copyright permission for material to be used by professor
- Info can be placed on reserve while copyright is sought with understanding that material will be pulled if request is denied
- The reserve request form is found in "Resources" in the Quicklinks navigation area in the OneATS portal
Copyright Permission
- Faculty Publication
- Copyright is responsibility of publisher or faculty member
- Materials can be scanned. Please contact the FIC to arrange this.
- Material requests must be submitted to FIC for review
- Copyright permission will be sought by FIC
