Dr. Stephen Steve P. Stratton is associate professor of Counseling and Pastoral Care. He is also a licensed psychologist.
He received a B.A. from Asbury College, 1982; a Ph.D. from Auburn University, 1991; and completed an internship at Texas A&M University, 1988.
Dr. Stratton started teaching as adjunct/affiliate faculty at Asbury Theological Seminary in 1994. He has been associate professor since 2006. In 2007, Dr. Stratton trained lay and professional counselors in Mumbai and Bangalore, India. He was also a presenter at the 2007 and 2008 Christian Association for Psychological Studies International Conference. He was a grant recipient of the Lilly Scholars, Theological Exploration of Vocation Initiative, Lilly Endowment.
Dr. Stratton has been invited to address several institutions, including Union College (2008), UMKAC Higher Education and Campus Ministry Retreat (2008), Asbury College (2007) and Olivet Nazarene University (2007).
He is a member of Nicholasville United Methodist Church, where he serves on the Worship Design, Organizational Task Force and Music committees. He is an Altar Ministry Leader and former board chair for Ichthus Ministries Inc. Dr. Stratton serves as auditor for the College/University Counseling Center Program Evaluation (Wheaton, Messiah, Campbellsville and John Brown). He is also a member of the Professional Consultation Committee for the CPE Program, Chaplain’s Service, Lexington (Ky.) VA Hospital.
Dr Stratton and his wife, Carol, have two grown children.
