Dr. David L. Thompson is the F.M. and Ada Thompson Professor of Biblical Studies.
He received a B.A. from Indiana Wesleyan University, 1962; a M.Div. (1965) and Th.M. (1967) from Asbury Theological Seminary; and a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University, 1973.
Dr. Thompson taught at Asbury Seminary from 1965-1968; from 1976-1983; and from 1986 to the present. He has also had pastoral ministries in Lexington, Ky., and Rockville, Md. He is currently involved on the church governance and praise team at Stonewall Wesleyan Church in Lexington. He is an ordained elder in the Wesleyan Church and does denominational theological consultation and pastoral mentoring and education service.
He is a Woodrow Wilson Scholar and Outstanding Alumnus of Indiana Wesleyan University. He has written several books, including God’s Healing for Hurting Families.
Dr. Thompson and his wife, Edith, have three adult children.
