Dr. Daryl L. Smith is associate professor of Mentored Ministry and Christian Leadership.

He received a B.A. from Spring Arbor College (University), 1970; a M.A.R. from Asbury Theological Seminary, 1985; and an Ed.D. from the University of Kentucky, College of Education, 1995. In addition, he did graduate studies at Methodist Theological School from 1979 to 1981.

Dr. Smith is an ordained pastor (deacon, 1976; elder, 1980) in the South Atlantic Conference of the Free Methodist Church of North America. He is a member of the Conference Ministerial Education and Guidance (M.E.G.) Board of the South Atlantic Annual Conference, Free Methodist Church. He has also served as chair of the Ministry Training Task Group, a sub-group of the South Atlantic Annual Conference M.E.G. Board.

Dr. Smith is the 2008 recipient of the Alumni Professional Excellence Award from Spring Arbor University. He is a member of the International Christian Mentoring Network, the Academy of Religious Leadership, the Evangelical Association of Theological Field Educators (EATFE), the Association of Theological Field Educators (ATFE) and the Spring Arbor University Alumni Board. He is also on the advisory board for Ministry Mentor, a ministry e-newsletter published by Tyndale House.

He has several book projects under way, including a book for church leaders compiling research from multiple sources, including Asbury Seminary’s Florida campus Mentored Ministry classes. He is also Pastoral Team Leader for the Orlando Free Methodist Fellowship, an experimental, missional-ministry community.

Dr. Smith and his wife, Carolyn, have three children and one grandchild.
