The Word is Out Partners with Asbury Seminary

In December Dr. Alan Meeman and Dr. Timothy Tennent, President of Asbury Theological Seminary, established a cooperative relationship between Asbury Seminary and The Word Is Out. Through this arrangement, Asbury Seminary and The Word Is Out seek to provide an opportunity for international students to obtain the Masters of Biblical Studies degree from Asbury in preparation for their future role of spearheading TWIO’s Centers for Biblical Understanding in various parts of the world.
Asbury Theological Seminary was founded in 1923 in Wilmore, Kentucky, (just outside of Lexington) and has become one of the largest evangelical seminaries in the world, with over 1500 students on its two campuses in Wilmore and in Orlando, Florida. Asbury emphasizes the conjoining of sound learning and vital piety. In addition, Asbury is committed to the global ministry of the Church.
This arrangement between The Word Is Out and Asbury Seminary is natural, since for over 70 years the seminary has been a center for the inductive study of the Bible, which stands at the core of the ministry of The Word Is Out. Asbury Seminary has a Department of Inductive Biblical Studies, with six faculty members.
The agreement between Asbury Seminary and The Word Is Out calls for Asbury to provide full tuition scholarships to students selected by The Word Is Out. These students will be selected on the basis of their commitment to minister in their homelands and on the basis of showing superior ability in inductive biblical study as well as exceptional intellectual capability generally. The Word Is Out will provide ongoing mentoring support and will cover travel and living expenses for the student, including room and board and textbooks.
