Doctor of Minstry
Program Timeline
The Doctor of Ministry program consists of a minimum of nine units plus the dissertation. The class hours and assignments for each unit are equivalent to three semester hours of course work, taught in a one-week, intensive seminar format. Pre-course work is done 30 days before the seminar and follow-up work completed 60 days after. These courses are offered in January and July of each year.
Four courses per year approximate a one-half time course load on a semester basis. In addition the Beeson Institute for Advanced Church Leadership offers modules (usually in February, June, and October each year) that may be taken for D.Min. credit).
The project-dissertation normally requires a minimum of eighteen months to complete. The normal time for completing the degree shall be not less than three years and a maximum of five years. While at least eight units are taken from Asbury, one of the nine could be:
- An independent study under faculty direction, or
- A graduate level course from another institution, with approval of the D.Min. Dean.
