The Master of Arts in Youth Ministry program empowers people to minister and work in the context of today's youth culture. The program focuses on solid grounding in Scripture and the gospel, as well as the practicalities and passion needed for youth ministry.

Admission Requirements

  • Application
  • Official transcripts from all postsecondary schools where more than one semester of coursework was completed sent to Admissions directly from the institution
  • $50 non-refundable application fee
  • Four References
    • Pastor (required)
  • 2.75/4.00 grade point average*
    Applicants whose grade point average falls between 2.50 and 2.75 may be admitted on a  reduced load basis. For applicants whose cumulative grade point average is below 2.50, a score of 50 on the Miller Analogies Test or a 500 on the verbal section of the Graduate Record Examination is required.
  • For applicants whose native language is other than English, 79 internet (550 paper) TOEFL score or 7.0 IELTS

  • Kingdom, Church and World
  • Vocation of Ministry
  • Introduction to Biblical Studies (may sub OT520 & NT520 & IBS-1)
  • Turning Points in Church History
  • Basic Christian Doctrine or Method and Praxis in Theology

Youth Ministry Core (22 hours)

  • Technology in Ministry
  • Foundations of Youth Ministry
  • Communicating the Gospel to Youth
  • Moral Development
  • Discipleship Development in the Family
  • The Life of the Youth Minister
  • Mentored Youth Ministry- 1, 2 & 3

Youth Ministry Electives (9 hours)

General Electives (12 hours)

*If your GPA [or GRE scores] do not meet the minimum requirement or does not accurately reflect your ability to succeed at Asbury, you will have an opportunity to explain in your personal history essay.
