MACE
The Master of Arts in Christian Education is designed to prepare students for a vocation of nurture, formation, and life-span discipleship in parish, institutional, or cross-cultural settings. Students will be equipped to provide leadership for educational ministries that effectively seek to present everyone mature in Christ.

Admission Requirements

  • Application
  • Official transcripts from all postsecondary schools where more than one semester of coursework has been completed sent to Admissions directly from the institution
  • $50 non-refundable application fee
  • Personal history
  • Four References
    • Pastor (required)
  • 2.75/4.00 grade point average*
  • Applicants whose grade point average falls between 2.50 and 2.75 may be admitted on a  reduced load basis. For applicants whose cumulative grade point average is below 2.50, a score of 50 on the Miller Analogies Test or a 500 on the verbal section of the Graduate Record Examination is required.
  • For applicants whose native language is other than English, 79 internet (550 paper) TOEFL score or 7.0 IELTS

M.A. Core (18 hours)

  • Kingdom, Church and World
  • Vocation of Ministry
  • Introduction to Biblical Studies (may sub OT520 & NT520 & IBS-1)
  • Turning Points in Church History
  • Basic Christian Doctrine or Method and Praxis in Theology

Christian Education Core (22 hours)

  • Foundations in Christian Discipleship
  • The Ministry of Teaching or Teaching the Bible to Youth and Adults
  • Moral Development
  • Discipleship Development in the Family
  • Professional Foundations of Christian Education
  • Discipleship for Evangelism and Social Justice, or Principles of Interpersonal Evangelism, or Cross-Cultural Discipling
  • Mentored Ministry: Christian Education-1, 2 & 3

Christian Education Electives (9 hours)

General Electives (11 hours)

*If your GPA [or GRE scores] do not meet the minimum requirement or does not accurately reflect your ability to succeed at Asbury, you will have an opportunity to explain in your personal history essay.
