Pagosa Bible Church (PBC) is a warm, friendly family-oriented body of believers and is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of pastor. As the only pastor for a non-denominational congregation of 100 (+ or - ), he needs to provide leadership to the church body by preaching and teaching from the Holy Bible with passion, energy, and application to everyday life, inspiring the congregation. The pastor must be a man with a pastor's heart and strong relational skills that gets to know the congregation as individuals, listening, counseling, and growing them in their faith. He needs to have good leadership, organizational, verbal and persuasive skills, with a heart for evangelism and skills to equip the congregation for evangelism as well as missions. A man with strong interest and experience in children and youth ministry is desired, along with experience and desire to lead the congregation in building a new facility and growing the congregation.
PBC is not affiliated with any denomination, but is a Bible-believing fellowship governed by an Elder Board, with land purchased and paid for, and with substantial funds set aside for a building in the near future, in Pagosa Springs, a rural community of about 12,000 people in southwest Colorado. The area continues to grow at an annual growth rate of over 3%, as more people discover this picturesque and scenic outdoor community (lovingly referred to as "God's Country") in the San Juan Mountains and National Forest. It is an area with over 300 days of sunshine each year, clean air, good schools, low crime rates, traditional family values and excellent quality of life. Extensive outdoor opportunities include hunting, fishing, skiing, hiking, 4 wheeling, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, sightseeing and vacationing. Agriculturally it is cattle, horse, and hay country that is shared with many elk, deer, and other wildlife.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications include a man seeking God's will, with a passion for preaching and teaching God's Word, for God's people, and gifted with a servant's heart. A seminary degree is required, and at least 4 years preaching experience preferred.
DUTIES
Shepherding/nurturing the congregation, preaching/teaching God's Word, and leadership to assist in growing Pagosa Bible Church.
SALARY
Salary is dependent upon education and experience, but we are seeking an above average candidate and will pay an above average salary.

Leadership
Provide leadership and direction in the English ministry consistent with the over-arching vision and direction of WHCC. Guide the Meta lead team in developing and executing ministry plans and events. Teaching & Preaching
As primary preacher in rotation with other pastoral staff, teach biblically and relevantly in the Meta English service to share the journey of life transformation in Christ. Advise the Meta Pathway (English adult Sunday School) coordinator in leading the ministry team to plan, coordinate and teach Meta Pathway classes. Initiate and coordinate trainings to equip, inspire, and mobilize people to become competent lay ministers who can make impact for Christ inside and outside of the church.
Small Group Ministry
Lead and organize pastoral care and shepherding for the congregation through the small group ministry. Work with the English small group deacon to provide leadership and coaching to small group leaders and coaches by equipping, supporting, and empowering them to build and lead life-changing small groups that connect with seekers, make disciples, and multiply.
Family Ministry & Pastoral Counseling
Together with the youth minister and other pastoral staff, train and equip singles and families to live practical, God-honoring lives according to their seasons of life. Conduct individual, family, and pre-marital counseling or refer church members to professional counseling as needed.
Missions & Evangelism
Equip and motivate the congregation to witness for Christ and serve the community in an intentional, culturally-relevant way. Mobilize people to support and participate in the mission and evangelism effort of WHCC both in Houston and around the world. Work with the missions deacon and committee to cast a missions vision and participate in missions trips.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduate level seminary training, M.Div. or above preferred.
Experience: Be experienced in working with both singles and families; have a creative, missional ministry mindset; conduct effective ministry trainings; be committed to a small group ministry philosophy. An understanding of Asian-American culture and experience in a multi-staff church will be a plus.
Ministry Style: Must be a people person with strong interpersonal and communication skills and a team player who is comfortable functioning within the multi-staff, multi-lingual/cultural ethnic church environment.
Spiritual Gifts: Must be strong in preaching and teaching, leadership and team building, capable in administration.
Doctrines: Must be in full agreement with WHCC Doctrinal statement
