JOB DESCRIPTION
Wasatch Evangelical Free Church is seeking a highly relational equipper and evangelist for a specialized associate pastor role. We are especially interested in a person who can catalyze the process of making disciples at Wasatch Church by equipping and deploying others into ministry. We desire someone who is able to oversee our core disciple-making environments (which include adult discipleship communities and a strategic discipleship training process), to direct the movement of people through the discipleship process, to coach key leaders to build ministry teams, to equip and assist believers in their personal evangelism, and to cast vision for and model mature discipleship.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have experience in vocational ministry, preferably on a church staff. He will have a college degree, although we prefer a graduate of Bible college or seminary. He will ideally possess spiritual gifts of leadership and / or evangelism, although other gift mixes are acceptable. He must have experience in personal evangelism and in leadership development, with strong preference given to those who have also built and equipped teams and managed assimilation processes. He must have the ability to cast vision effectively from the pulpit. The candidate we hope to hire must be a team player, faithful and teachable, with a consistent walk with Christ. Organizational and time-management skills, along with good oral and written communications, are highly desirable. Compatibility with the beliefs and values of Wasatch Church will be assessed using a detailed questionnaire. The compensation package will be regionally competitive, based on experience and qualifications.
DUTIES
1. Serve as a positive example of a mature disciple of Jesus in attitude, conduct and relationships. 12.5%
2. Train, coach, supervise and multiply Team Leaders of the church's Communities in order to produce effective leaders and teams. 12.5%
3. Train, coach, supervise and multiply Phase Leaders of the various phases of church's intentional disciplemaking experience, The Ascent, in order to produce effective leaders and teams. 15%
4. Coordinate and coach ministry teams arising from the cooperative efforts of the church's Communities, in the areas of Fellowship, Care, Prayer, Discipleship, Evangelism, Gathering, Community Service and Global Mission, in order to equip teams and team leaders to produce effective ministry. 12.5%
5. Build and lead a team to oversee and track the process of assimilating newcomers and new believers into the relationships and ministries of the church, in order to help them become fully engaged participants in the discipleship process. 20%
6. Partner with the congregation's members to catalyze and support their individual evangelistic relationships and strategies while equipping and deploying others to do the same, in order to maximize opportunities to share the good news of Jesus within the relational networks of the church, with a view to reach the whole world. 12.5%
7. Preach in the church's Worship Gathering ten to fifteen times per year, in order to cast vision and equip congregation members to live as mature disciples of Jesus. 5%
8. Participate in cooperative ventures with other like-minded churches, both within and outside of the EFCA, where it is appropriate and does not interfere with mission priorities.
9. Make use of available resources to cultivate ongoing personal and professional growth. 10%
10. Fulfill other reasonable ministry duties, as needed and assigned by the Lead Pastor, in keeping with mission priorities and personal strengths and abilities

DUTIES
Primary Objective (Basic Purpose):
To Develop and Oversee the Discipleship and Assimilation Ministry for adults by:

Primary Duties (What activities are done to accomplish this objective):
1) Give oversight to the New-Comer Committee to ensure that new-comers are contacted in a timely manner

-An attempt to set up a home visit for the purpose of evangelism/discipleship/assimilation
2) Develop and Implement a comprehensive curriculum that enables new believers, and others, to grow in their understanding of the Christian faith and God's purpose for the church. This will include, but not be limited to teaching: (By yourself and others)
- Basic theological truths that will lead to a biblical world-view and Christian
life-style
-A basic understanding of church history and mission
-The importance of every believer being regularly involved in worship, witnessing,
fellowship with other believers, serving in their area of giftedness, and tithing their
income to the church
3) Manage resources (personnel, staff, volunteers and finances) to effectively implement the ministry
4) Develop and Implement a plan to assimilate new-comers into the life of the church by providing opportunities to be involved in a small group and an area of service. This will entail:
-Training small group leaders and giving oversight to the ministry
-Developing a method to match people's gifts and abilities with opportunities for service,
especially creating systems for new-comer participation
-Coordinating the process of informing our people of opportunities and involving
them into a place of assimilation.
5) Recruit, Train and Oversee volunteers to carry out the ministries of outreach, discipleship and
assimilation
6) Communicate relevant information to the Senior Pastor
Other Duties:
1) Serve on the Administrative Council and keep the leadership informed about your ministry
2) Attend our regular worship service(s), special services (e.g. revivals, GIC's, baptismal services) and other relevant meetings as needed
3) Assist the Senior Pastor, as needed (e.g. serving communion, altar counseling, occasional preaching, weddings, funerals, counseling, and hospital visitation)

1) Committed Christian with the same basic philosophy of ministry and theology as the Dayton United Methodist Church
2) Ability to get along with people and good team skills
3) Servant's heart for ministry and a deep desire to see people come to Christ and grow in their faith

Other Information:
1) Performance shall be reviewed at least once per year using information supplied by the congregation, pastors and Pastor Parish Relations Committee (PPRC)
2) Salary shall be reviewed annually by the PPRC prior to the establishment of the annual budget and submitted to the Finance Committee for consideration
3) Any grievances or any personal matters of concern about the position should be shared with the Senior Pastor and the PPRC. The PPRC shall not be expected to report findings of said meetings with the Administrative Council unless the PPRC deems it necessary
Place of Commitment: Dayton UMC and Community
Time of Commitment:
A minimum of Forty Hours per week
It is extremely important to note that this ministry will require some evening hours and week-ends in order to accomplish the ministry effectively
