Asbury Theological Seminary

Multicultural Ministries:

At Asbury, our three campus communities are woven together with peoples from a variety of cultures. Asbury is truly an international seminary made of students from a number of social and economic classes. Yet, we realize that our multicultural essence is not enough. We want to embrace one another with patterns of healthy intercultural relationship humbly understanding and even giving way to our brother or sister's perspectives.

In the tradition of Revelation 7.9 and Galatians 3.28, in the tradition of Jesus, we affirm that all are equal in the sight of God to become disciples and ministers of Christ and that eternity will include a transformation of all current cultures each distinct and containing invaluable elements for the worship of God. All cultures need transformation.

As a community, we seek to follow this tradition while embracing our unique Wesleyan distinctive preparing and sending forth a spirit-filled, well trained, sanctfied, evangelistic ministry. It is our goal to be a community both equipped to welcome peoples from all cultures and morese community that can equip every person for their home ministry context. While acknowledging that we are a Christian institution whose roots are grounded in American soil, we strive to exist at the round table and include every person and voice on their own terms.

The Multicultural Ministries is thus mandated to orient and educate the Asbury community in the direction of intercultural formation and mercy and justice. We seek to provide ways for the Asbury community to grow in Christian discipleship by way of intercultural formation and humility in order to engage incarnationally in world, national, and local mercy and justice initiatives. We also offer special support for Asbury’s international and A.L.F.A. (African, Latino, First-Nations, Asia) Heritage student communities.

Yours is the invitation to the round table if you would come.
