Florida Dunnam Community Life

Printer-friendly version

"When I am on the Florida-Dunnam campus, the community becomes my family for that day."

This sentiment, expressed by one of our current students, summarizes the sense of relational community that exists on Asbury Seminary's Florida-Dunnam campus. Because so many of our students commute to campus and take advantage of our block scheduling opportunities, our community may "look" different than a residential campus.

Students, faculty and staff, along with members of their families, often eat meals together, study together, pray together and worship together as part of a normal day on campus. Small groups form naturally, sometimes as a result of sharing a meal together each week or three or four students commuting together to campus. No matter how they form, genuine and intentional relationship is a hallmark of the Florida-Dunnam campus.

Several times during the semester, there is an opportunity to gather as a community for a meal. These are times of great refreshment not only physically, but spiritually as well.

The United Methodist Student Fellowship allows students to gather and share their ministry and ordination journeys, and to encourage along the way.

Community of the Florida-Dunnam campus is natural and easy… an outgrowth of our community to "do life together" both on and off campus.
