Covenant Groups
The Beeson Center, in partnership with Blessed Earth, invites applicants to join an experience of covenant community around the ethos of creation care. Those interested in being involved in a deeper formational practice are encouraged to join a Covenant Group.
These covenant groups are intended to foster a deeper formational experience learning about and living out biblical understandings of care for God’s creation. The purpose of Covenant Groups is to join together for learning, modeling, formation and teaching. Using the Blessed Earth film series and supporting workbooks “Hope for Creation” and “Hope for Humanity,” Covenant Groups study biblical sustainability principles at monthly fellowship times.
Conversations arising from the group experience will influence how members will want to model what they are learning. This may be as simple as using a clothesline rather than a dryer for laundry. A natural outcome of the monthly sessions is a formational interaction that shapes each participant. This learning, formational dynamic will serve as teacher to the seminary and beyond.
The expectations for being in community would include participating in a covenant group that joins together once a month to go through the Blessed Earth film series, attending CCC lunch forums once a month and experimenting with sustainability practices. Some examples include: using clotheslines for drying laundry, planting gardens for beautification and/or produce, using energy efficient light bulbs, recycling, etc.
