Beeson Requirements

The Beeson Pastor scholarship is awarded competitively to pastors of ability, based on promise of greater ministry potential, desire to build a great church and recommendations of ministry supervisors. Candidates must meet these qualifications prior to acceptance:

  • Acceptance in Asbury Theological Seminary’s Doctor of Ministry degree program.
  • A Master of Divinity degree from an accredited school, with a minimum of 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).
  • At least three years of pastoral experience beyond the Master of Divinity degree.
  • TOEFEL score of 550 or better for applicants whose native language is other than English.
  • Miller Analogies Test with a raw score of 60 or better in most cases.
  • A research paper is to be submitted if: you are an international student, your grade point average in previous graduate work is less than 3.00 / 4.00 and/or your MAT score is less then 60. The Doctor of Ministry Research Paper Guidelines are located on the web.
  • Satisfactory completion of the application accompanied by undergraduate and graduate transcripts.
  • Submission of video-taped sermon.
  • Personal Interview

Residential Program

Once accepted into the Beeson Pastor Program, participants fulfill the coursework requirements for the Doctor of Ministry degree during their in-residency year. During the following two years of ministry students will complete and defend their required dissertation.

Non-residential Program

Once accepted into the Beeson Pastor Non-residential Program, participants fulfill the coursework requirements for the Doctor of Ministry degree during four years of intensive sessions. During the following year of ministry students will complete and defend their required dissertation.
