Andrew Tan, Malaysia
Andrew Tan received his M.A. in Counseling from Asbury in 2000, and he returned to Asbury for the Beeson Pastor program to learn something new and practical to apply to his ministry situation in Malaysia.
Andrew has especially enjoyed the ability to access resources, whether it's personnel or periodicals. "The professors are accessible and open, and there's a freedom to search for things I need."
What has surprised him most about Asbury is its pulse on global ministry. "Asbury is at the forefront of missions work, and it's very up to date about Christian experiences and ministry around the world," says Andrew.
As Andrew studies to further his knowledge in Pastoral Leadership, his current courses are helping him in tangible ways. "Anthropology opens my eyes to understand culture and from the other person's perspective. Advance Leadership helps me to understand systems better. Preaching refreshes me in what I already know, but challenges me in a number of areas."
