On May 21-22, your fellow alumni will be gathering at the Asbury Seminary Kentucky campus for a weekend of fellowship and memories. Much has changed at Asbury in 50 years, but the heart of the student experience is the same. “Sanctified, Spirit-filled men and women” come to Asbury Seminary to learn how “to evangelize and spread scriptural holiness throughout the world.” Sound familiar? Come! Contact the Office of Alumni at alumni@asburyseminary.edu by April 15, 2010, to join in the Golden Grad festivities.
Kingdom Encounter
More than 150 people gathered on the Florida Dunnam campus of Asbury Seminary February 1–3, for Kingdom Encounter 2010: A Conversation with Eugene Peterson. For three days participants had the opportunity to dialogue with Peterson about his five-book series on Spiritual Theology. Alumni, students, friends and prospective students made up the audience for this event, which called us to a simplified way of ministry and encouraged us to follow and lead in the “Jesus Way,” incarnating in our own living the gifts of Sabbath, prayer and presence.
For the first time, Kingdom Encounter was offered in conjunction with a three-credit hour course in Spiritual Formation taught by Dr. Steve Harper, with a course enrollment of more than 70 students. The course/conference combination will be utilized more in the future.
Phonathon update
We want to thank our wonderful alumni for sharing their time and resources with us during Phonathon. It is such a blessing to our students to connect with you. We have the best alumni in the world! We started Phonathon with phone numbers for more than 6,500 alumni. We now have less than 2,000 calls left. We will assemble a team of students to continue calling these remaining alumni from our Advancement Office throughout this semester. Our financial goal for this Phonathon was $175,000 for the student scholarship fund. Thus far we have received $117,000 in pledges. As we continue to call this semester and we send out our follow-up mailings, we expect to reach that goal.
There’s still time to contribute! If you’d like to help your fellow alumni reach Asbury’s goal, contact Tammy Hogan at 859.858.2238 or tammy.hogan@asburyseminary.edu.
