Master of Arts in Christian Education
The Master of Arts in Christian Education is designed to prepare students for a vocation of nurture, formation, and life-span discipleship in parish, institutional, or cross-cultural settings. They will be equipped to provide leadership for educational ministries that effectively seek to “present everyone mature in Christ.”
Admission Requirements

- The pastor of the church you attend, or another minister
- A personal friend or acquaintance
- 2.75/4.00 grade point average
Applicants whose grade point average falls between 2.50 and 2.75 may be admitted on a “reduced load” basis. For applicants whose cumulative grade point average is below 2.50, a score of 50 on the Miller Analogies Test or a 500 on the verbal section of the Graduate Record Examination is required. - For applicants whose native language is other than English, 79 internet (550 paper) TOEFL score or 7.0 IELTS

- M.A. Core (18 hours)
- Kingdom, Church and World
- Vocation of Ministry
- Introduction to Biblical Studies (may sub OT520 & NT520 & IBS-1)
- Turning Points in Church History
- Basic Christian Doctrine or Method and Praxis in Theology
- Christian Education Core (22 hours)
- Foundations in Christian Discipleship
- The Ministry of Teaching or Teaching the Bible to Youth
and Adults - Moral Development
- Discipleship Development in the Family
- Professional Foundations of Christian Education
- Discipleship for Evangelism and Social Justice, or Principles
of Interpersonal Evangelism, or Cross-Cultural Discipling - Mentored Ministry: Christian Education-1, 2 & 3
- Christian Education Electives (9 hours)
- General Electives (11 hours)
In addition to these classes, students are required to complete a Bible Competency Examination.
