After eight years of leading doctoral programs in leadership and mentoring doctoral students through their dissertations—more than 75 Ph.D. and D.Min. completed dissertations—at Regent University's Center for Leadership Studies and School of Divinity (Virginia Beach, VA), Dr. West joined the faculty of the E. Stanley Jones School of World Mission and Evangelism in the Ira L. Gallaway Chair of Missional Leadership. His professional background involves varied leadership posts, such as drill instructor for U.S. Marine Corps officer candidates, various staff pastoral roles and urban worker among troubled teens, recent immigrating refugees and visiting international scholars. Dr. West is co-founder of Leadership Training International (LTI) and former president of Tidewater Bible College, two ministries dedicated to mission and ministry mobilization to under-served and under-represented leaders at home and abroad, an area where he continues to do consulting. His scholarly and writing interests deal with the formation of emerging leaders, intercultural leadership competence and organization development in missional settings. He has co-authored A Well Furnished Heart: Restoring the Spirit's Place in the Leadership Classroom. His current project is Leadership Without Borders. Dr. West lives in Lexington, Kentucky with his wife, Jeri, and son, Joshua.
