Dr. Stone has been a member of the Asbury Seminary faculty since 1987. An ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, Dr. Stone has taught previously at Yale Divinity School, Yale College and at a secondary school in Kenya, Africa. He has prepared and delivered papers for such groups as the Society of Biblical Literature, Theological Education Association and Lexington Theological Seminary. Dr. Stone has worked as a translator for the forthcoming Revised Living Bible, has written a commentary article on the book of Judges for the Asbury Bible Commentary, and is preparing a commentary on the book of Joshua for preachers and teachers. He also has a book forthcoming from Fortress Press entitled Redaction Criticism of the Old Testament. Dr. Stone teaches and preaches in churches, camps and conferences, emphasizing the centrality of biblical teaching in every aspect of the Christian life. As a part of this ministry, Dr. Stone also uses his guitar to convey the Christian message. He and his wife, Angie, have three children: Zachary, Hannah and Lyman.
