Dr. Wood has taught at Asbury Seminary since 1976. Prior to his arrival at Asbury, he taught philosophy at Roberts Wesleyan College (1972-73) and Houghton College (1973-76). His vitae also includes eight years of pastoral ministry in Kentucky and Indiana. Dr. Wood has authored five books, Pentecostal Grace (Zondervan, 1980), Truly Ourselves, Truly the Spirit's: Reflections on Life in the Spirit (Grand Rapids, 1989), The Meaning of Pentecost in Early Methodism, Rediscovering John Fletcher As John Wesley's Vindicator and Designated Successor (Scarecrow Press, 2003), which was the winner of the Smith-Wynkoop 2003 Book of the Year Award presented by the Wesleyan Theological Society, God and History (Emeth Press, 2005), and Theology As History and Hermeneutics (Emeth Press, 2005). He was also a contributor to Christian Spirituality (InterVarsity Press, 1988) and The Asbury Bible Commentary (Zondervan, 1990). Dr. Wood has published numerous articles in a variety of publications, including The Wesleyan Theological Journal and Christianity Today's The Best in Theology, and he served as the editor of the highly respected Asbury Theological Journal for nineteen years. Dr. Wood, an ordained elder in the Kentucky Conference of the United Methodist Church, is married to the former Mary Whitus. They have four adult children, Laura, Daniel, Christy, and Andrew as well as two grandchildren.
