Dr. Javier Sierra came to the Asbury Theological Seminary faculty from a private practice in the suburbs of Chicago. He was also an adjunct professor at Wheaton College where he obtained his Masters and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Sierra is originally from Honduras. He served as a youth pastor in his local church, teaching psychology in the National University and as a general manager in a transportation company. He enjoyed providing workshops and presentations to professionals and the general community in issues like parenting, communication, multiculturalism and domestic violence. As a member of the Orlando campus, Dr. Sierra is hoping to respond to his call by serving students in the MA program in Counseling, and also the larger community, especially Latinos/as, in the Central Florida area through his teaching, research and clinical experience. Javier is married to Dr. Georgina Panting and they have three children at home: Alexandra, Grace, and Gabriel.
