Dr. Walls has taught at Asbury Seminary since 1987. His books include: The Problem of Pluralism: Recovering United Methodist Identity (Bristol Books); Hell: The Logic of Damnation (University of Notre Dame Press); C.S. Lewis and Francis Schaeffer: Lessons for a New Century from the Most Influential Apologists of Our Time (with Scott Burson, InterVarsity Press); Heaven: The Logic of Eternal Joy (Oxford); Why I Am not a Calvinist (with Asbury professor, Joe Dongell, Intervarsity Press); The Chronicles of Narnia and Philosophy (coedited with Gregory Bassham, Open Court Press). Forthcoming books include The Oxford Handbook of Eschatology (editor, Oxford University Press) and Basketball and Philosophy (co-edited with Gregory Bassham, The University of Kentucky Press). Dr. Walls is an elder in The United Methodist Church, West Ohio Conference, and is a member of the Society of Christian Philosophers. He is also a member of the Dulles Colloquium of the Institute on Religion and Public Life and is Senior Speaking Fellow for the Morris Institute for Human Values. Dr. Walls, who was the recipient of a John Wesley Fellowship for Graduate Study at Notre Dame, won first place in the poetry division of a national Christianity and Literature Writing contest as an undergraduate. He has authored a variety of professional and popular articles, on topics ranging from Foreknowledge and Freedom to Harry Potter. Dr. Walls has two children: Angela Rose and Jonathan Levi. In his leisure time, he is a connoisseur of classic British sports cars and an avid fan of football and basketball.
