Dr. Thompson first taught at Asbury Seminary as a teaching fellow in biblical studies from 1965-67, and then as a full-time instructor for the 1967-68 school year. After doctoral studies and professorial assignments at United Wesleyan College and Marion College (now Indiana Wesleyan University), he came to the faculty of Asbury Seminary in 1976. Since that time, with the exception of a four-year pastorate in Rockville, Md., he has taught biblical studies here. In 1988 he became the F.M. and Ada Thompson Professor of Biblical Studies. He has written scores of popular and professional articles for periodicals such as The Wesleyan Theological Journal, The Wesleyan Advocate, The Asbury Seminarian, The Asbury Journal, Good News and Christian Scholar’s Review. His books include A Study Guide for J. Gresham Machen’s New Testament Greek for Beginners, Bible Study That Works, now in its second edition, and God's Healing for Hurting Families. Dr. Thompson, an ordained elder in The Wesleyan Church, has pastored several churches. Dr. Thompson and his wife, Edith, have three grown children: Gina, Scott and Karin.
