Dr. Goold came to Asbury Seminary in 1987 following 16 years at Asbury College, and has also taught at Vennard College, the College of the Open Bible in Des Moines, and Whitworth College in Mississippi. Dr. Goold has also served as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Asbury College and chaired music departments at several of the above colleges. He was the person primarily responsible for initiating the M.A. in church music at Asbury Seminary. He ministers as song-leader and soloist at campmeetings, revivals and spiritual retreats, has led student missions teams to Central and South America, and, along with his wife, Thelma, has led a number of marriage enrichment and engaged discovery weekends for couples. A member of honor societies Phi Mu Delta (music) and Theta Phi (religion), Dr. Goold is also active in the American Choral Director’s Association and the National Association of Teachers of Singing. He and Thelma, an Asbury College professor, have two adult sons: Mark and Sean.
