Dr. Thomas Buchan

Dr. Thomas N. Buchan III joins the faculty of Asbury Theological Seminary after having completed his Ph.D. in Theological and Religious Studies at Drew University in 2003. While at Drew, he studied with Dr. Thomas C. Oden and assisted in the production of several volumes of the Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture published by Inter-Varsity Press. He has worked as an adjunct instructor in New Testament and Systematic Theology in the Eastern School of Christian Ministry of Palmer Theological Seminary (formerly Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary) and as an adjunct professor of Church History at Drew Theological School. He has also worked as an editor with Gorgias Press and as the Assistant to the Director of Beth Mardutho: The Syriac Institute, a non-profit organization serving scholars in Syriac studies and communities in the Syriac tradition. Dr. Buchan is the author of Blessed Is He Who Has Brought Adam From Sheol: Christ's Descent to the Dead in the Theology of Saint Ephrem the Syrian. Dr. Buchan looks forward to contributing to the life and mission of the Asbury community. Thomas is married to Shelly and they have one son, Thomas IV.
